My name is Connie and I’m half American and half Japanese. I enjoy cooking, hiking, karaoke, and yoga. I was born in San Diego, California but grew up in Yokosuka, Japan. I attended an American school on the military base and moved back to San Diego when I graduated from high school. I lived in Japan because my father was in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Yokosuka. I was very lucky to be able to live here for such a long time.

My mother is Japanese and she is currently living in the United States. I learned Japanese as a child and I’m always surprised at how much I still remember after all these years! I am grateful that I can live here once again and experience the other part of my heritage.

I went to college in San Diego and I worked as a teacher there for 11 years. After all these years, I decided that it was time for me to come back and experience life here again. I was visiting Japan once or twice a year for the past 5 years. I was coming back so often that it made perfect sense for me to move back.

I have been working at Maxwell English school now for 5 months. It has been a busy 5 months! I had to get adjusted to living in Japan again, driving a car on the “other” side of the street, and my new job. Although I grew up in Japan, I have never lived here as an adult so many things are new to me. It’s been great and I wouldn’t change any part of it!

Nice to meet you! I look forward to meeting everyone!
