My name is Kimberley or Kim for short. I am from Brisbane, Australia.
I went to Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. I studied science, Japanese and education. I was a high school Japanese and science teacher in Australia. In Australia, there is no junior high school. There is only elementary school and high school. High school is 6 years long and I used to teach all levels of high school.
When I was at university, I spent 6 months studying abroad at Kanda University of International Studies in Chiba City. It was so much fun! I went to Disneyland and Disney Sea a lot. I also studied. Because of my time in Chiba, I really like the Kanto region of Japan. Kanagawa and Chiba are two of my favourite parts of Japan.
I like music, dance and scouting. I use to do Irish dancing when I was young. I did many competitions and even competed at the Australian championships. I injured my ankle very badly when I was 13 years old, so I had to quit. I still do scouting. I have been a scout for nearly 15 years. I even do activities with the Kanagawa and Chiba scouts. In Australia, I do musical theatre with my scout friends. We also do activities like off road car racing.
I am loving my job at Maxwell English! I have only been here for 6 months, but it has been a good 6 months. I love that I can teach babies, kids and adult classes. It’s so interesting to meet so many different people! I’m so happy that I have settled into life in Japan and I look forward to living here for years to come.
It’s nice to meet you and I look forward to meeting everyone~
